ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORM

by Cathy Weymouth

Saturday 1/8/11  Genesis 20-22; Luke 8 - ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORM

S - Luke 8:22,26,27,35, One day Jesus said to his disciples, "Let's go over to the other side of the lake." So they got into a boat and set out...  They sailed on to the country of the Gerasenes which is on the opposite side of the lake to Galilee. And as Jesus disembarked, a man from the town who was possessed by evil spirits met him. He had worn no clothes for a long time and did not live inside a house, but among the tombs... These people came out to see what had happened, and approached Jesus. They found the man, whom the evil spirits had left, sitting down at Jesus' feet, properly clothed and quite sane. That frightened them.

O - Jesus announced to his disciples that they were going to the other side of the lake.  When the storm came up, they were frightened... apparently they forgot what he had said!  He had a destination in mind. He had an assignment on the other side of the lake - that would be told for centuries.  The man with the legion of demons was waiting there needing a divine appointment and miracle!

A - This is the thing about faith - we don't know where it's going to lead us!  We don't know the full story yet of what the Lord has in mind.  I wonder if the disciples looked back at the storm-tossed experience and saw that this divine appointment was dependent upon them making it through the storm to the other side?!  Wow, Lord, we have appointments like that waiting for us as well.

P - Lord, Calm the seas in our life, increase our faith, help us move on all the way through to the other side of the storm where your plans are waiting for us.  May there be people there waiting for us to get through - waiting for the deliverance you have for them - which will come through us as your sons and daughters.
