Tuesday 6/21/11 2 Kings 6,7; 2 Chronicles 20; 1 Timothy 3 - He's Trying to Take My Inheritance!
S - 2 Chr 20:10-12 HCSB, "Now here are the Ammonites, Moabites, and the inhabitants of Mount Seir. You did not let Israel invade them when Israel came out of the land of Egypt, but Israel turned away from them and did not destroy them. Look how they repay us by coming to drive us out of Your possession that You gave us as an inheritance. Our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this vast number that comes to fight against us. We do not know what to do, but we look to You."
O - Here is an enemy that God did not let the Israelites touch previously, now coming to take away their possession, their inheritance - their land. They looked to God for direction. His answer was that this battle was His to fight, not theirs. He confused the enemies, who then destroyed each other. Israel then came in and picked up the plunder, not lifting a sword!
A - Each battle with our "enemies" is unique. When we seek God for direction, He gives us specific strategy and if we follow this, we come out on top! However, there is a similarity in the battles - the enemy is always trying to take away our possession, our inheritance. Let us be like Jehosophat who sought God because he refused to let these enemies come in and take their land that God had given them.
P - Lord, show us our inheritance which you have already given us and how the enemy is trying to rob, kill, and destroy it. Help us to see his strategy and to know that we are the Winners of this War! Jesus has already fought the battle and won. We are to come in and pick up the plunder. May we be good stewards of our inheritance. Amen.
