Gen. 31-33 Luke 13
"Thou art Loosed"
S- Luke 13:12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity."
O-Jesus was in the synagogue on the Sabbath, with lots of people gathered around, when a woman with a crippled up, hunched over body captured His attention. She did not ask for healing, yet His heart of compassion, and His eyes of love could see the pain she was in. Jesus calls her over and says "You are Free from your Infirmity" and laid hands on her. She immediately stood straight up, giving Glory to God.
A- The first time I read this, I read it as an "infirmity" being a sickness, and have always pictured an old woman crippled over. The scripture doesn't say she is old. It says, She is crippled over and has been for 18 years. In my life, I realize that
the meaning infirmity can be anything that cripples us, addictions, unforgiveness, sickness, depression, hate, jealousy all these sins and more can cripple us from being the woman or man of God that we are to be. This scripture doesn't say she went running towards Him for a healing....but she did go into His presence of where He was....He noticed her and He healed her. He knows our end from our beginning and everything in between. When I am crippled by sin, I am not standing or walking where God has called me to walk, because I am in need of God's presence, and healing touch. Healing touch does not mean, just for sickness. He knew what she needed, and healed her. If there is something crippling us, He can heal it and set us free....just by being in His presence and wanting healing. It's way more fun to a woman that is loosed, than bound....... He did it for me:)
P- Father, you are so good. You know us from the inside out, and everything in between. You know when we our bound and you have just what we need to be set free! Thank you that your heart of compassion and the love in your eyes for us, knows and see's all and your have Mercy & Grace that is new every morning. You know our every need and you are Faithful to us and love the heart of our very being, even when it is afflicted with bondage and disease. Thank you Lord that we can walk in Freedom, because of your love for us. Amen.
What an encouraging perspective, Robin! That I might not have to ask specifically, because sometimes I may not even be aware of my infirmity. But, if I seek out His presence, the healing comes.
