NonReligious Jesus

by Cathy Weymouth

Tuesday 1/25/11 Exodus 12,13; Psalm 21; Acts 1 - NonReligious Jesus

S- Acts 1:4 JBP  On one occasion, while he was eating a meal with them, he emphasized that they were not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the Father's promise.

O - Jesus liked to hang out!  He loved to fellowship and share meals with his friends.  He wasn't very religious, like the Pharisees.  He was human and warm, compassionate and fun!

A - Let's be real.  Let's be like Jesus. If Jesus was accused of being a drunkard and a glutton, it must be that his fellowship around meals was frequent.  He told Zacchaeus that he needed to go and even stay at his house. (Everyone complained, "What business does he have getting cozy with this crook?!" MSG Luke 19:7)  He hung out with "sinners" and tax collectors.  Let's throw religion aside and be human, like Jesus!

P - Father, help us to relax a bit. Help us to throw religion aside and focus more on relationships and fellowship, like Jesus did!
