Bring Out the God-Colors of this World!

by Diana Kriesel

Monday, 4/18/11 – 1 Samuel 20,21; Psalm 34; Matthew 5 – “Bring out the God-Colors of this World!”

S– Matthew 5:14-16 – “You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand — shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. [from the Message Bible]

O – In John 8:12, Jesus called Himself the Light of the world. Now, He calls US the light of the world! He is telling us that we are the instruments God chooses to use to display His goodness and glory. He wants to use our lives as a testimony that points to God.

A – A light is meant to shine and give direction. Jesus is calling us to radiate and point others to the path of Truth. Our influence is to be evident, like a city on a hill or a lamp on its stand, not concealed or hidden. Light-radiating people live so that others see a life that results in praise to God. We have opportunities every day to be a display of the goodness, kindness, and love of God.

P – Lord, we desire to be as a paintbrush in Your hand! That You may use us to display Your love, character, goodness and mercy to a world in darkness. Cause us to shine brightly for Your glory, that others may be drawn to You through our lives.
