The Tragedy and Triumph of Sampson

S - Judges 13:5 " ...set apart to God from birth, and he will begin the deliverance of Israel."

O - Samson was set apart by God to be a deliverer of Israel. He had a calling, a clear purpose for his life, and the Holy Spirit was with him powerfully. Yet Sampson had a very flawed character and made very poor choices in his life. But here is the kicker! Bound, blinded, and a terrible failure, Samuel prayed to God, and asked for one more chance to fulfill his destiny, and God gave it to him.

A - God works through imperfect people and He is a God who hears our heartfelt prayers.

P - Lord, we pray that we will have both character and Holy Spirit power. Lord, give us grace and wisdom to make wise God-honoring choices. Thank you God that even when we have made a mess of things, you still hear heartfelt cries. You are the God of mercy and grace. May we live our lives to bring glory to you. May we not miss our calling and your plan for us. Amen.
