Wednesday - April 13, 2011 - 1 Samuel 14; 1 Chronicles 4; 2 Corinthians 13
S - 1 Chronicles 4:9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers.
O - Jabez sticks out of the seemingly endless genealogies as someone who prayed and had God answer his prayers. But, I can't figure out where he came from.
A - The genealogy of the lineage of Judah was interrupted in order to mention Jabez. But, who are his parents? I don't think that matters as much as the fact that Jabez broke free of what was pronounced over him by his mom - Jabez means "sorrow." Jabez called out to God to deliver him from that which was pronounced over him and God answered his prayer. It doesn't really matter where you come from - only where you point your focus for your future. Leave your past behind and head for the promises of God.
P - Oh, that You would bless ME and enlarge MY territory, Lord! Let Your hand be with ME and keep ME from harm so that I will be free from sorrow.
