DON'T BE IDLE

Thursday - May 19, 2011 - 1 Kings 4,5; 2 Chronicles 2; Psalm 101; 2 Thessalonians 3

S - 2 Thessalonians 3:12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat.

O - Paul is speaking about people who are idle and expect others to take care of them.

A - There is a difference between those who are unable, physically, to work and those who are unwilling to work. Expecting others to take care of your needs while you do nothing except devise new ways to get more hand-outs is wrong in God's eyes. Idle people get bored and bored people get in trouble. God did not create us to sit around in a garden and have the animals serve us. He created us to tend the garden and have a relationship with Him. Most everybody can do something to contribute to their own livelihood.

P - Lord, help me to teach others how to live a life worthy of You. Teach me to give them hand-ups, not hand-outs.
