Live at Peace

By Cathy Weymouth

Tuesday 5/31/11 Proverbs 16-18; Romans 12 - Live at Peace

S – Romans 12:18, If it is possible, as far as it depends on you (on your part), live at peace with everyone. NIV (HCSB)

O – Paul is giving us a tall order here in this scripture. Peace is a state of tranquility or quiet. It is also freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions and a state of harmony in personal relations. (from the Nook dictionary).

A – I have found that when there are disturbing situations going on, it is hard to live at this level of peace. However, as I pursued healing through counseling and prayer, some of the negative emotions that were stirring in my soul began to calm down and it was easier to find this natural peace. It appears that sometimes “taking your peace” may involve some deeper work and self care, with Jesus' healing touch, before it is possible to manifest in our lives.

P – Father, thank you for the healing journey you have me on. I thank you that the inner turmoil is lessening and peace is increasing. Come and do a work inside us to free us from the effects of frustration and anger so that peace may reign. Bring us to self-care that frees us to be all that you destined us to be. Amen.
