Worshiping in Spirit and Truth

by Cathy Weymouth

Tuesday 8/2/11 2 Kings 21; 2 Chronicles 33; John 4 - Worshiping in Spirit and Truth

S - John 4:23-24 MSG, "It's who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That's the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration."

O - We are called to worship God in the way we live, from within our spirits and engaging in truth.  The term truth is also translated reality - the truth about God and who He is; the reality of our Savior and Father and Love.

A - I love this book, Destined to Reign, by Joseph Prince.  I keep saying - we need a revelation of the cross, the finished work of Jesus.  I am learning more about that through this book and other Grace teachings.  Then when I think of Jesus, I see the reality of God's love - truth of the sacrifice, the fact that Jesus did it all and it's not my human effort that makes up the difference.  My heart is filled with gratitude and the striving to make my way diminishes.

P - Lord, fill us with the truth of Your Grace, your love, your sacrifice.  Then and only then can we worship in truth - seeing You for who You really are.  May we be honest before you, real, not hiding our humanity but embracing it. We are mere humans, You are the Savior!  And you did it ALL. Amen.
