“What must I do to be saved?”
S – Acts 16:30 “And he brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
O – Thinking that Paul and the prisoners had escaped from the jail after a large earthquake the Jailer was about to take his own life when Paul cried out. “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.” Seeing they were all there, the jailer asked the question, “What must I do to be saved?
A – Every time I read this story about Paul, Silas and the Jailer and excitement rises up in me. I never grow tired of reading it. I can almost see myself standing there watching the story unfold. It is one of the great love stories of the Bible. The Philippian jailer asking the question,” What must I do to be saved?” Paul answering, Only believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Just that simple. I need to be reminded once in awhile that it is just that simple to tell others about Jesus and not to overwhelm them with details. Paul recognized that the Holy Spirit had already prepared the jailers heart. I wonder if at times I get in the way by making salvation so complicated for the hearer? By recognizing that the Holy Spirit has already prepared their hearts all I need to do is tell them to believe on the One who died on the cross for their sins and they shall be saved…..and their loved ones too!
P- Lord I love when others come to know You as their Lord and Savior. As you prepare their hearts help me to see and know that You have already done the work and all I need to do is humbly and gently lead them in a prayer of salvation.
