THIS IS GOD’S YEAR TO ACT! Monday, 1/4/10 – Genesis 9-11; Luke 4
Diana Kriesel
S— Luke 4:18-19 – “God's Spirit is on me; He's chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor, sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the burdened and battered free, to announce, "This is God's year to act!" [from The Message Bible]
O— Jesus announces that He has been set apart for the very purpose to preach good news to the poor, freedom to prisoners, etc. He is reading from the book of Isaiah and is announcing the grace by which He works for healing, deliverance, liberty, and illumination from darkness to light.
A— God’s Spirit is also on each one of us with the grace to do the same things that Jesus did…even greater things! The Message Bible says it well for us: “This is God’s year to act!” YES! I believe this, declare it, claim it, and own it! In my life, in your life, over those areas where we have been impoverished, blinded, burdened, battered, in bondage…”This is God’s year to act!”
P— Spirit of God, move in and through my life, my heart, my thoughts and my attitudes. Move in and through my paradigms, my closed-mindedness, my ‘boxes’ where I have put limits on the sovereign Lord! Break forth O Lord in my life, that I may break forth with the Spirit You have put within me to impact my world. This year Lord, burn in me a holy desire to expect and proclaim that “THIS IS GOD’S YEAR TO ACT!”
