Prepare the Way

Prepare the Way Gen 6-8, Luke 3 January 3, 2010
Robin Danaher

S- Luke 3:4-5 (NIV) “A voice of one calling in the dessert, “Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for HIM. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall... become straight, the rough roads shall become smooth. Luke 3:4-5 (Msg) “Thunder in the desert,” “Prepare for God’s arrival,” Make the road smooth and straight,” Every ditch will be filled in,” Every bump smoothed out,” The detours straightened out,” All the ruts paved over,” Everyone will be there to see.” The parade of God’s salvation.”

O-John received a message from the Lord, and went to the dessert to spread the news. Many thought he was the son of God, but he was the messenger. He tells everyone to straighten the roads, fill the holes, smooth out the bumps, to prepare for the Son of God’s arrival. He was not talking about the “roads” but rather talking about cleaning up our walks, don’t follow a path of destruction, stay on the straight and narrow, for the Lord is coming, and He will save you from the dangerous paths, you just have to choose to clean them up, and ask God to do the repair work, through His salvation.

A-We are all on a road, some straight and narrow, and some have ditches where we can hide out for awhile and think we can’t be seen…..for some, there are detours, and choices, and for others perhaps a boulder blocking the way. The Lord can take away every obstacle on any road, he can clear the paths, and take down any road blocks He chooses. The key is, we need to be walking on the same path as Him, so we are not going to the right as He moves to the left.

P-Father, guide our path, straighten our road, remove the obstacles so that we can follow you all of our days. I ask for your guidance on the road in every situation . Help me to take the bumps, and not be detoured into a path that is dark and dreary, but rather keep us in the light, and following you. For anyone in the ditch or a rut, I ask you to help us find them and help them find their way out. Save us Lord from the paths of destruction and detours away from you……. Amen
