Monday, 1/11/10 –Today’s Reading: Genesis 27-28; Psalm 4; Luke 11 – SONSHIP, NOT JUST FRIENDSHIP!
S— Luke 11:9-10 - Jesus said: “Here's what I'm saying: Ask and you'll get; Seek and you'll find; Knock and the door will open. Don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This is not a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we're in.” [The Message Translation]
O— Jesus is teaching us that true prayer is based on sonship and not just friendship. He is not only teaching about persistent prayer here, but also about the willingness of our heavenly Father to care for His children.
A—This verse comes at a perfect time. Tonight I am meeting with my ‘leading ladies’ and we are spending the evening focusing on “Divine Recovery”. We are beginning this year focusing on that which the Father has said is ours, and recovering what the enemy has stolen from us, as well as those things that we have let slip away, like relationships, health, finances, promises, etc. We are daughters of God and we can do just as these verses proclaim: we can ask, seek, and knock. We do not need to bargain with Him, we can be direct and ask for what we need. He is our Father and desires to bless His children exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think.
P— Thank You, Lord that You have taught us in Your Word that we can come to the Father in full assurance of His goodness, His faithfulness, His love and His mercy. I ask for a spirit of wisdom and revelation tonight as we come together as Your daughters. Bring our hearts into alignment with Yours so that we can see Your will done in our lives…on earth as it is in heaven.
