Leave the Known

Tuesday 1/5/10 Genesis 12-14; Luke 5 - LEAVE THE KNOWN
Cathy Weymouth

S- Gen 12:1,3,4 NIV. The Lord had said to Abram, "Leave your country... and go to the land I will show you... the peoples (families) of the earth will be blessed through you." So Abram left, as the Lord had told him. Luke 5:4,5,10 MSG. Jesus said to Simon, "Push out into deep water and let your nets out for a catch." "Master, we've been fishing hard all night and haven't caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I'll let out the nets." It was no sooner said than done - a huge haul of fish, straining the nets past capacity. "From now on you'll be fishing for men and women."

O- God called Abram to leave the land "of the known" to an unknown place - a place of inheritance. Abram immediately obeyed, even though he had not a clue where he was going. Jesus asked Simon to let out his nets again even though there hadn't been much of a catch all night long. Both men were blessed for their obedience that was marked with faith. They became a blessing to others.

A- Lord, I feel just like Abram... with Tune the Temple. Creating an Online Course is unchartered territory for me. I don't have a clue where I am going and I'm even a bit overwhelmed with the process because I don't know how to do it! This undertaking feels huge compared to where I've been. Abram must have been a bit overwhelmed moving all his family, servants, animals... but that didn't stop him!

P- Lord, help! I am stepping out... tentatively... putting one foot in front of the other... in faith. Guide me like you did Abram and please bring people alongside who will help me. I pray that many others- people and families - will be blessed through me. You have told me before that I will be a fisher of men - may people become your children through this ministry - a huge haul of them!

  1. I love this...I always want to be in new, unchartered territory so that I will be challenged to walk in faith, trust the Lord and be S-T-R-E-T-C-H-E-D to be and do what He wants me to do and be. Nice job Cathy!
